Let Her Play Tour

Our Giving Truck was on the road for 43 days in July & August   delivering the gift of sport to girl athletes across the country!

We visited Boston, Philadelphia, Washington DC, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Indianapolis, Kansas City and Knoxville!

During this eight-city tour, we gave out 15,000 gifts exclusively to girl’s programs (a 50% increase from past tours.) Also, we know that sports bras are a piece of equipment that present a barrier of play. So each girl received (along with athletic gear specific to her sport) a sports bra. Our Foundation is gifting 100,000 girls’ sports bras over the next 12 months to encourage more participation.

Why focus on girls? Research shows that by the age of 14, girls quit sports at two times the rate of boys* In addition, 73% of girlshave concerns about their body when they play**

Professional female athletes Sabrina Ionescu, Sam Mewis, Elena Delle Donne, Swin Cash, Amy Rodriguez and Arike Ogunbowale helped The DICK’S Foundation surprise kids at select stops along the Giving Truck route. We were excited to bring these game changing athletes directly to the athletes of the future to help inspire them to stay in the game.
