Sports make people better
A simple statement, but one that is often overlooked. Sports build character, increase confidence, motivate kids to stay in school and aim for higher education; teaching life lessons that extend well beyond the playing field. Through grants and other support we’ve helped 501c3 organizations, schools, and community teams across all 50 states provide opportunities for youth to play sports. But not everyone has the same access to play sports.
That’s why we’re continuing that commitment to focus on low-income communities and high-poverty schools – the places that need the most help.
Sports Matter Community Grants Program
Since 2018, we've pledged $2.5 million to partner with DICK'S Sporting Goods stores to provide meaningful grants to support youth sports teams, leagues, and programs in local communities throughout the country.
Youth Sports in School
Since 2015 we’ve partnered with DonorsChoose.org to fund school sports projects on their platform. Through them we’ve been able to help more than 900,000 students participate in sports.
Because of a lack of budget, lack of equipment, or lack of facilities, many communities can’t provide appropriate access to youth sports activities. That’s why we provide strategic grants that target those most in need to have the biggest impact.
