Advisory Team

Look over our lineup

They’re coaching legends, Olympic medalists, and hall of famers. But before they became sports heroes, they were kids in the neighborhood who were excited to play – throw a ball, swing a club, or strap on skis. Meet the members of the Sports Matter Advisory Board who are giving back by giving their time to the cause of youth sports.

Larry Fitzgerald

“I can’t imagine how different life would be if I hadn’t grown up surrounded by sports. Football has given me a wonderful platform and helped me do some things off the field that I’m really proud of. I’m committed to making sure young athletes learn the same valuable lessons that extend beyond the field, like discipline, accountability, teamwork and perseverance.”

Kerri Walsh Jennings

“It has been shown that sports are one of our greatest tools for childhood development because they teach life lessons. Sport in general has given me the world. I want to make the world a better place and sport has been my vehicle to do that for a long time now.”

Lindsey Vonn

“I’ve always been one to push the limits, have faith in my dreams and fight for what I love. I can’t think of a better time to step up and provide future generations the tools they need to reach their goals.”

Jon Gruden

“With the lack of youth sports funding and rising costs, kids can't afford to play and coaches can't afford to coach. At the end of the day, we want to make sure the kids are going to have the resources to play the game the way it's supposed to be played, and that's what matters most.”

Annika Sorenstam

“I learned at a young age there are no shortcuts to success. I fulfilled my dreams through golf and I want to share my life lessons as well as bring the game to even more girls and women around the world. It’s never too late to get started.”

Jalen Rose

“Sports teach children many life skills – how to lead, how to follow, how to be a good teammate, how to deal with success and how to deal with failure – all of the qualities that make a well-rounded young person. I’m committed to positively impacting the lives of our youth and providing opportunities, access and exposure to athletics.”

Maverick Carter

“It’s up to us as mentors to provide structure to help children shape their future. Providing support and encouragement can improve confidence and lead to success on and off the court.”
