FAQs
What's the mission of The DICK’S Sporting Goods Foundation?
Our mission is to enable and inspire youth participation in sports.
What is the Sports Matter Program?
The DICK'S Sporting Goods Foundation created the program because we believe that sports have the power to change lives. Sports build character, increase confidence, and motivate kids to stay in school and aim for higher education. Since 2014, the Foundation, together with DICK'S Sporting Goods, has pledged over $50 million to give children the opportunity to play. Through these efforts, the Sports Matter Program has raised awareness of the importance of youth sports and saved over 2,000 teams.
What is my donation to The DICK’S Sporting Goods Foundation supporting?
Donations to DSGF support the Sports Matter Program, which provides grants to under-resourced youth sport teams, leagues and public school athletic programs.
Why are youth sports important?
Research shows that highly-involved athletes are more likely to report good grades, aspire to graduate college, and are less apt to get into trouble at school than non-athletes. They also have lower rates of depressive affect, lower levels of self-derogation, and higher levels of self-esteem when compared to students involved with other extracurricular activities.
